Investigators in Leiden publish immune atlas of the placenta during pregnancy

Researchers from the Leiden University Medical Center have investigated immune cells during the gestation by using mass cytometry in the placental bed of women with healthy pregnancy. The study gives an extensive overview of frequent and sporadic immune cell types and the way their numbers changes during pregnancy. The results form the basis to study the role and functionality of the immune cells in complicated pregnancies. The article will be published soon in Frontiers of Immunology.
